A PBS Model School is one that has met specific criteria and has demonstrated innovative, creative, and functional ways of supporting PBS in their respective school. Specific characteristics of PBS Model Schools are their consistent methods of: (1) utilizing their data to better serve the students and staff, (2) teaching PBS to new students throughout the school year, (3) creative and engaging reward systems, (4) extending PBS throughout the campus and partnering with the community, and (5) including PBS into daily activities across all available teaching opportunities. PBS Model Schools have made a commitment to both PBS and to their schools and it shows!
Criteria for becoming a PBS Model School in Florida include all of the following:

- outcome data (Mid-Year and End-Year Reports) indicating progress,
- written recommendation from a District Coordinator and confirmation recommendation from FL PBS:RtIB Project staff,
- completed On-Line PBS Model School application & supporting documentation, and
- completed (1) On-Site PBS Walkthrough by a peer PBS Coach or District Coordinator supporting the BoQ score.
FL PBS:RtIB Project continues to acknowledge PBS Model Schools in Florida demonstrating the above criteria as Bronze, Silver, or Gold PBS Model Schools.
Bronze PBS Model Schools meet minimal criteria defined above.
Silver PBS Model Schools meet minimal criteria as stated in the Bronze level, demonstrate higher implementation fidelity, and supporting documentation provides evidence of at least one of the following: Office Discipline Referrals disaggregated by race, visibility strategies such as, community, parent, district, political support, and/or established funding supports beyond what FL PBS:RtIB Project provides.
Gold PBS Model Schools meet minimal criteria as stated in the Bronze and Silver levels, demonstrate the highest implementation fidelity, and supporting documentation provides evidence of visibility strategies, established funding supports across all tiers of Positive Behavior Support (Universal, Supplemental, and Intensive Tiers of support).
The Model School Application and Supporting Documentation should reflect the current school year (2008-2009) and demonstrate growth in PBS implementation across years by documenting and submitting new evidence of meeting specified criteria according to respective award level (i.e., Bronze, Silver or Gold). Be sure to share the strategies, activities, interventions, or practices that are helpful and used to implement PBS successfully in your school. In addition, it is important to share any barriers faced and how the team works through challenges to implementation.
