TEAMING:

~ Constant communication focused on success of the entire group is what has made our first year implementation of the PBS program so successful. The administrator serves as a team member and assists with reporting and analyzing SWIS data. Currently, all lead teachers make up the PBS team.

Monthly PBS data is shared at PBS team meetings as well as monthly staff meetings and is used to plan rewards, research intervention strategies, conference with parents, and identify professional development topics.

Our team is diverse and brings a lot of teaching experience together with a behavioral management focus. The PBS Team has served as the central planning headquarters for all of our PBS related activities and events. This team then shares data, analyses, and ideas during monthly staff meetings.

IMPLEMENTATION:

~Our PBS program has done a wonderful job this year with our schoolwide monthly reward activities. We have also used our data to guide a lot of programmatic decisions we have made this year.

OUTCOMES:

~I think the most marked change has been the fact that we all are now speaking the same language and using the same behavior management program. Children are rewarded for being good. The positive focus has shifted our thinking from negative punishment to praise! All children inherently want to do a GOOD JOB!

  OBSTACLES:

~In the early childhood arena the staff turnover rate is very high. Staff turnover has been overcome through the use of electronic blackboard training and booster sessions. Funding for special events and activities has also been an issue. Our PBS funds have been supplemented with PTO funds.
