TEAMING:

~1. Our PBS team works well together due to the team members getting involved and being an advocate for PBS to their fellow grade level and colleagues. The staff is represented by having at least one member on the team from each grade level and departments.

2. We use discipline data to do necessary adjustments in the areas of concern. Example: The data showed that there were high number of bus referral and the PBS team implemented a plan on the school bus to help with behavior concerns.

3. Information is shared with the faculty through emails, faculty/staff meetings, and grade level team meetings. The information is shared two times a month or more often is it is necessary. The entire school is aware of the process that the PBS team makes.

4. Our team works well together and is on the same level with the process. Everyone is respectful towards each others opinion and contributions.

IMPLEMENTATION:

~We have developed a school-wide recognition program that reinforces positive behaviors called “The Colt’s Club”. The Colt’s Club recognizes students who meet the criteria for the club each quin. The criteria is based on a point system in the areas of absences, tardies, homework, classwork, special area behavior, lunchroom behavior, school-wide behavior and character trait for each quin. To become a member of the Colt’s Club the students must earn a minimum of 19 points with no zero in any area. At the end of each quin the students who have become a member of the club is invited to a recognition celebration and receives a certificate and prizes.

The “Shining Star” cards are an ongoing reinforcer throughout the weeks. The students receive the “blue cards” for showing appropriate character traits anywhere school wide; “yellow cards” for showing appropriate behaviors on the school bus; “gold cards” for showing appropriate behaviors at car rider area. The faculty and staff receive the “red cards” for going above and beyond. The students’ places their “Shinning Star” cards in the appropriate PBS box and on Friday morning announcements random number of student names are pulled from each box and they are able to go into the reward cabinet.

The reason for participating in the Colt’s Club is to reduce the number of inappropriate behaviors occurring across campus by educating students and reinforcing appropriate behaviors.

OUTCOMES:

~Since PBS has been implemented the climate has improved tremendously. The students and staff are excited and positive with the implementation. The morale between students and staff with behaviors has grown. By this we have provide all students with necessary tools that have assisted them in becoming responsible citizens in society.

  OBSTACLES:

~The obstacle that the team has had is funding to help maintain the rewards for PBS. We have written grants to help overcome this obstacle. We sent out information to the community through parent newsletters and to reach out for volunteers.
