~The team works well due to all of the efforts of the Team Leader at the school before me. She went through several years of challenges to get-buy in and support. The foundation she provided the school (i.e. behavior principles, understanding consequences, and data analysis) has made my transition to the school much smoother. Administrators (the school has a total of 5; 1 Principal and 4 A.P.’s) 3 of the A.P.’s are on the team and one shows up to meetings on a regular basis. The A.P. is very active, keeps us on target throughout the year (i.e. reminders of upcoming activities) and assists with delegating jobs.
We focus on SPECIFIC problem behaviors and have large group rewards (i.e. dances, rallies, parties) contingent on the absence of the targeted behavior. We also have focused on increased supervision in problematic locations. Currently via staff meetings (monthly). Working on sharing data and information on staff website.
Diverse representation (i.e. all grade levels, both gen. ed. And E.S.E.; male and female). The Core team consistently meets monthly. Everyone brings ideas to the table. We are great listeners. All are willing to take on some form of task. The team regularly models PBS during the school day, and they help coach other staff members. |
