TEAMING:
 
 

~Strong administrative support, regular attendance to, and participation in, meetings. We also have representation from many grade levels and feel we are all “on the same page” when it comes to modifying behavior.

Data is shared at the beginning of the meeting, observations are noted and discussed. All ideas are validated and explored for possible implementation. Feedback is encouraged re: the status of the program to date and any changes that may need to be made based on the results of data. Ex: Due to a high number of referrals from the Cafeteria, Beachland implemented an incentive-based program which eliminated all future referrals from that setting.

Information (SWIS data) is shared with the faculty every month during faculty meetings. In the event that this would not be possible, the Team Leader would e-mail the SWIS data to all faculty members to view, with any feedback noted.

Great administrative support, diverse Team backgrounds. We have a “we’re all in this together attitude” which promotes unity. We are able to operate from a strong fiscal position which helps fund our numerous activities/rewards.

 
IMPLEMENTATION:
 
~We excel in all of the above areas, I think.
 
OUTCOMES:
 
~There seems to be a much more positive school climate since we began this program 3 years ago. The students who typically follow the rules are being rewarded for doing so, whereas before PBS, their only consequence was to avoid punishment. There has been at least a 50% reduction in office discipline referrals since we began PBS 3 years ago.
 
  OBSTACLES:  
 
~We have had to overcome some staff turnover, but it has been manageable. We simply selected faculty members to be on the Team in time for them to attend your 3-day training. There were some initial funding concerns a few years ago, but we developed a school store The profits earned from the store have helped purchase rewards.
