~ The PBS team functions together very well. They are committed and believe in the PBS process and ultimately are committed to what is best for children. An administrator sits in on each meeting but not in a “top-down” capacity, but rather to share perspectives and pertinent data. The staff is well represented as not only classroom teachers are members, but also support staff, related arts, administration, guidance and ESE personnel.
Data is shared monthly at the PBS committee meetings and used to make decisions. An example that illustrates the effectiveness of utilizing data was a decision made concerning buses. Data indicated a spike in referrals on buses in the afternoon. The committee, working with the faculty, changed bus dismissal procedures from a holding area concept to an immediate loading concept. Since that change (which was months ago) there has not been one bus referral in the afternoon.
SWIS data is shared monthly with the PBS committee as well as the Team Leaders of the school. Team Leaders share the information with their teams. Data is also shared at administrative meetings and with support staff. PBS information also goes home periodically in school newsletters. Information is also shared on the school morning news.
The team leader and teacher coach are excellent. The committee is focused during meetings and bases decisions on data. The seek input from staff and are diligent about looking for ways to positively impact student behavior and achievement. The committee is EXTREMELY cooperative and there is certainly a strong sense of collegiality. |
