TEAMING:

This Team is made of teachers from all grades/curricula. ESE and regular ed is represented. A representative is at every meeting to help make decisions. The Team is creative and thinks outside the box.

At our meetings we are looking at our top flyers and what the specific offenses are (tardies vs disrespect). We then have our guidance representative share this data with the appropriate guidance counselor if the Team feels a CST meeting is necessary. Or our ESE Team leader will hold a IEP mtg if necessary.

There is a link to the PBS newsletter on the school’s website. All events and behavior concerns are reported in the newsletter.

This Team has done a great job of creating ways to excite the students. They are from fairly well to do families and it was difficult at first to find rewards that worked. The drawings and silent auction has been very successful. There are “SOAR” posters across the campus and in every classroom for the expectations and classroom rules.

IMPLEMENTATION:

Rewarding students. The silent auction was a huge success. The Team had over 20 donations including $50 gift certificates, Blockbuster cards, carwash, Disney tickets, Florida Gator basket, Mets tickets, Prom package, and class ring. It was easy to manage and all students had access to it.

OUTCOMES:
This school has seen a decrease in problem behavior. It is hard to compare, however, since we are documenting data differently this year due to the new SWIS categories. The data is really helpful in making overall decisions about the students in term of referrals. The school is an “A” school and the climate and morale on campus has always been positive.

OBSTACLES:
One of the biggest obstacles was finding the time for the meetings. This Team wanted to meet twice a month versus once a month. The district level has allowed the Team to earn inservice points for this time outside of their contracts.
