TEAMING:

What makes your team work so well?  Please discuss in detail (e.g., what is your administrator’s role on the team, how is staff represented, etc.)?   We have a good representation of staff on our team, we all believe in the PBS program and work hard to make it a success.  Our administrator helps us plan and implement activities and buy rewards.  The administration is very supportive of PBS at our school, they continually reinforce our school wide expectations and procedures.

How does your team use data to make decisions on campus?  We use the data to find problem areas and address them.  One example is we noticed that the hallway seemed to be an area where there were a lot of problems last year so we instituted a one-way traffic plan in the hallway at the beginning of the year and this has cut down on the problems we have in the hallways.

How do you share information with the rest of your faculty (e.g., emails, newsletters, meetings, etc.)?  How often do you share this information?  We share information with the rest of the staff through email, faculty meetings, flyers, and announcements.  We share information at least once a month when we email the whole staff our meeting notes and details on upcoming events.

What do you see as the overall strengths of your team?   Please provide details.  We work well together and have a similar vision of PBS.  All members want to see positive change around the campus and we work together to achieve that change.

IMPLEMENTATION:

In what areas of PBS does your team excel (e.g., rewarding students/staff, teaching expectations, data-based decision-making, etc.)?  Please provide details below.  We are very good at coming up with new ways of rewarding our students.  We work as a team to problem solve and find solutions to problems that might occur.  We excel in teaching our expectations.  This has been made easier through a Character Education class that all students have every other day.  We work well as a group and continue to encourage new members to join and be part of the process.

OUTCOMES:

Discuss the changes you have seen on campus since PBS implementation (e.g., data, climate, morale, etc.).  Overall our referrals have decreased since implementation.  There are school wide procedures and expectations in place and they are being taught and followed on a daily basis.  The campus is orderly and students know what is expected of them.

OBSTACLES:

What are some obstacles that your team has had to overcome?  Please explain the process for overcoming these hurdles below.  The biggest obstacle we have had to overcome is teacher buy in and participation.  We continue to deal with this problem by offering teachers solutions and ideas for their classrooms.  We also survey the teachers at the beginning and end of school so we can address any problems they might have.  Another problems we’ve had to overcome is getting the 8th graders interested in earning the Mustang Money.  We continue to come up with new and interesting activities to help get 8th grade buy in.  Overall I think we do a good job overcoming our obstacles.
