TEAMING:

What makes your team work so well?  Please discuss in detail (e.g., what is your administrator’s role on the team, how is staff represented, etc.)?   Our team is very motivated to make a difference with PBS throughout our school campus.  Although we have been a model school before, our school experienced a new administration and a new PBS team.  As a result, we revamped our PBS program and created new incentives.  Our team is made of our Guidance Counselor, Assistant Principal, ISS Assistant, two 1st grade teachers, 4th grade teachers, 5th grade teacher, and PE teacher.

How does your team use data to make decisions on campus?  We use data to determine where discipline referrals are happening most, what time, and what behaviors.  As a result, we focus more on monitoring those high need areas and times of day.  We remind students on the morning news and throughout the day about our Shadowlawn Expectations.  Later in the school year, we adjusted our SWIS data entry to help us create a custom report to better understand our Major Discipline Referrals which show “fighting/physical contact”.  For each referral for fighting/physical contact, we enter additional specific information, i.e., kicking, hitting, pushing, etc.  This custom report will be more helpful next year since we will be able to enter this additional information on all of our fighting referrals as soon as the school year begins.

How do you share information with the rest of your faculty (e.g., emails, newsletters, meetings, etc.)?  How often do you share this information? We share PBS Updates and information by email and in the mailboxes and in Grade Level Team Leader meetings.  We share the information as needed which is usually monthly.

What do you see as the overall strengths of your team?  Please provide details.  Our commitment to our students and wanting them to receive positive reinforcement for showing the Shadowlawn Expectations and our character traits.  Our team has rewarded their own students as well as other students with Soar to Success cards and have brought their students to the PBS Store.

IMPLEMENTATION:

In what areas of PBS does your team excel (e.g., rewarding students/staff, teaching expectations, data-based decision-making, etc.)?  Please provide details below.  Our team excels in the areas of rewarding students with the Soar to Success cards and visiting the PBS Store, and teaching expectations in the classroom.

OUTCOMES:

Discuss the changes you have seen on campus since PBS implementation (e.g., data, climate, morale, etc.).  Students are excited and motivated to earn a “Soar to Success” card.  They anxiously wait to see if their name is picked during our daily “Soar to Success Raffle”.  They also often ask their teacher to take them to the PBS Store so they can “buy” fun items with their Soar to Success cards.

OBSTACLES:

What are some obstacles that your team has had to overcome?  Please explain the process for overcoming these hurdles below.  We have experienced scheduling difficulties with having PBS team meetings.  Sometimes information is disseminated by email to team members when a meeting cannot take place.
