TEAMING:

What makes your team work so well?  Please discuss in detail (e.g., what is your administrator’s role on the team, how is staff represented, etc.)?  Our team meets regularly and we have a good representation of our staff.  We have classroom teachers including ESE and Non ESE, support personnel, administration and  non- classroom teachers.  The members of the team are all willing to attend all the meetings and work together.

How does your team use data to make decisions on campus? Our team reviews the data each month to determine if a particular area/behavior needs to be focused on.

How do you share information with the rest of your faculty (e.g., emails, newsletters, meetings, etc.)?  How often do you share this information?  We have faculty meetings weekly where PBS has a time slot to present any information needed to the staff. Once a month we present the data to the staff.

What do you see as the overall strengths of your team? Please provide details. Our team works really well together, we have hard workers on the team.  All the team members are willing to go above and beyond and put in any amount of time needed.

IMPLEMENTATION:

In what areas of PBS does your team excel (e.g., rewarding students/staff, teaching expectations, data-based decision-making, etc.)?  Our team does well on tracking data, keeping minutes and notes on all meetings and plans for the following month.  Our team has been very creative in coming up with monthly reward days. We have a great school wide training for all students to learn the expected behaviors in all common areas.  We videotape our lessons for the common areas and show them after long breaks to remind the students of the school expectations and rules.

OUTCOMES:

Discuss the changes you have seen on campus since PBS implementation (e.g., data, climate, morale, etc.).  Our students love to work for “star bucks,”  following expectations has almost become a habit for some students, our referrals declined dramatically after our first year of implementation and our teachers make more of an effort to focus on positive behaviors.

OBSTACLES:

What are some obstacles that your team has had to overcome?  Please explain the process for overcoming these hurdles below. Implementation of our school-wide plan was not initiated immediately when the team was formed.  A great deal of our first year was filled with planning.  When the decision was made to start rewarding the students, our implementation really got off the ground. Everyone in the school was involved in rewarding students and focusing on our expectations and rules. Initially our teachers were not confident in teaching the expectations and rules so our team worked with them and helped develop lesson plans and modeled the teaching of lessons through the school-wide common area training day we provided to all students.
