What makes your team work so well?  Please discuss in detail (e.g., what is your administrator’s role on the team, how is staff represented, etc.)? The team is comprised of teachers representing all our student population.  The core team has remained the same since PBS was implemented in 2004.  The team also meets regularly.

How does your team use data to make decisions on campus? The team looks at data, on a monthly basis, and targets those problem areas.  Once problems areas are identified, the team develops interventions to decrease them. As part of our interventions we provide booster trainings, meeting with individual teachers, re-teaching expectations (school wide), and create new incentives to motivate the students.

How do you share information with the rest of your faculty (e.g., emails, newsletters, meetings, etc.)?  How often do you share this information? The team shares information with the staff through faculty meetings, staff development, SAC (School Advisory Committee and e-mails.

What do you see as the overall strengths of your team?  Please provide details. The team’s strength is rooted in the commitment to the PBS approach on dealing with behaviors.  The team is dedicated in providing a learning community which is safe and accommodating for all students. 

In what areas of PBS does your team excel (e.g., rewarding students/staff, teaching expectations, data-based decision-making, etc.)?  Please provide details below. PBS Team excels at teaching expectations.  We have created a Block to teach the expectations year around with different activities through the year.  The team also does an excellent job regarding students and organizing PBS events.

Discuss the changes you have seen on campus since PBS implementation (e.g., data, climate, morale, etc.). There has been a decrease in discipline referrals since PBS was implemented.  The first year 72.5 % decrease, second year an additional 44% decrease, and during the third year those numbers have remained stable.  In 2007 we have seen a decrease in our previous year in discipline referrals of 53%. There is a positive climate among staff and students.

What are some obstacles that your team has had to overcome?  Please explain the process for overcoming these hurdles below. One of the obstacles this year was new hired teacher .  We have had to involve them and bring them on board. Change in the community.  The turnover has been high.  Having to house Flora Ridge Elementary school for half a semester incorporating their staff and students.  We have had to re-teach expectations often where all students are aware of them.
